Spiritans Celebrate 60 Years of Mission in Ghana
The Congregation marked six decades of dedicated service in Ghana with a special Eucharistic celebration and community events, bringing together Spiritans, lay associates, and the wider Catholic community to give thanks for the Province’s mission journey.
From the small group of Irish Spiritans who first arrived in 1971, the Province has grown into a community of Ghanaian-led parishes, schools, and formation houses serving the poor and marginalized across the country. The anniversary celebrations were an opportunity to reflect on that history and to recommit to the founding charism of evangelization and service.
Provincial leadership thanked the many priests, brothers, lay associates, and benefactors who have supported the mission over the years, and looked ahead to the next chapter of Spiritan life in Ghana — including a growing number of Ghanaian Spiritans now serving as missionaries abroad.
What began as a small mission has grown, by the grace of God, into a Province that now sends its own missionaries to the world.

The celebration closed with a call to prayer and continued support for the Province’s ministries in education, evangelization, social justice, and youth formation as the community looks toward the next milestone in its mission story.
