Spiritans in Ghana

Continuing the mission of the Holy Spirit through evangelization, education, and service to the poor.

The Congregation of the Holy Spirit, also known as the Spiritans, has been serving in Ghana since 1973. Our mission in Ghana focuses on evangelization, education, and social development, particularly among the poor and marginalized communities. We strive to bring the love of Christ to all people through our various ministries and apostolates.

With our motto "One Heart, One Soul," we work together as a religious community dedicated to serving God's people. Our presence in Ghana has grown significantly over the decades, establishing formation houses, schools, parishes, and social development projects across the country.

Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission

To respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit who sends us to peoples, cultures, and religions to which we have not yet been sent, with a preference for the poor and marginalized.

Our Vision

To be a dynamic religious congregation that witnesses to God's love through evangelization, education, and service, building communities of faith, hope, and charity.

Our mission in Ghana is deeply rooted in the Spiritan charism, which emphasizes availability to the Holy Spirit, missionary zeal, and commitment to the poor. We work in collaboration with local churches, communities, and other religious organizations to fulfill our mission of evangelization and human development.

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free."

Luke 4:18 - The Spiritan Motto Scripture

The Spiritan presence in Ghana began with a small group of missionaries who responded to the invitation of the local Church. Over the years, we have grown into a vibrant province with Ghanaian Spiritans now taking leadership roles and continuing the mission both within Ghana and in other parts of the world.

Today, the Spiritans in Ghana continue to respond to new challenges and opportunities in evangelization. We are committed to forming the next generation of Spiritans who will carry forward our mission with creativity, fidelity, and passion. Our formation programs prepare young men for religious life and priesthood, equipping them with the spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral tools needed for effective ministry.
